(Representational/File) Five teenagers went to take a bath at the Yamuna River Saturday, and three of them are feared to have drowned, said the Delhi Police Sunday. All boys are students of Class 8 at an MCD school in Delhi’s Singhu village.
The police said they received a PCR call Saturday at 19:52 pm about the drowning incident. Locals alleged that three boys – Rishu, Shivam, and Rupesh – may have drowned in the river at around 9:30 am. The two boys who survived the incident did not immediately inform others about the mishap.
“The families of all the five boys were called and questioned. An extensive search was made by the rescue team but the children could not be found. A case has been registered based on the statement of the parents,” said a senior police officer.
Another PCR call about the incident was made early Sunday. The caller said the five kids were near Tank No. 4 when the three boys drowned.
“We have recovered some kids’ bicycles from the exact spot. Teams are still looking for the missing boys,” added the officer.
The police said they carried out a search throughout the night and even Sunday morning to trace the teenagers.
