After being deferred four times for want of quorum,elections to the 12 standing committees of the Bruhath Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) were finally held Monday.
Members of the committees were to be elected on September 4,when the Mayor and Deputy Mayor were elected.
Eleven members were elected unanimously on each committee.
Regional Commissioner Gourav Gupta completed the election process.
Those who may become chairpersons of the committees are: M S Shiva Prasad (taxation and finance),Shashirekha Jayaram (public health),K Umesh Shetty (town planning and improvement),B Somasekhar (major public works),A M Basavaraju (ward-level public works),Rekha Kadiresh (accounts),A Kodanda Reddy (education),Haseen Taj (social justice),R Chandrasekharaiah (appeals),N Muniraju (horticulture),Y R Gowramma (markets) and Lakshmikantha Reddy (establishments and administrative reforms).
