The film also marks the debut of Canadian import,Jenny Ghottra,and Kajal Jain along with renowned Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans’s son,Yuvraj Singh. Besides,TV actor Harish Verma,Raj Babbar’s son Arya Babbar and Jividha Astha (known for films like Taal,Mini Punjab and Lion of Punjab) are also part of the film’s cast.

With three boys and three girls,Yaar Annmulle is a mix of characters — from comic to serious and romantic to rogue — and their love and friendship. While it rides high on the hit number,the film’s quirky poster also grabs attention — with the boys standing in their boxers,pants down. “It was a conscious decision to go in for a slick look since it’s a youth-oriented film,” say producers Tinu Luthra and Rohit Chawdary. After coming up with hits such as Mel Karade Rabba and Jihne Mera Dil Luteya,they felt it was time for them to invest in Punjabi cinema.

Singh got a call for the film while he was a final-year music student. “I was never interested in acting. Music is my junoon ,and that’s what I’ve been trained in and groomed for,” he says.

Singh is paired opposite Gwalior-based Jain,a Miss India 2008 contestant,who had to work on her Punjabi skills. As for Ghottra,it’s the hardcore ‘Punjabi life’ she’s been living in Canada that allowed her to slip into a NRI college girl’s role in the film with ease. While Babbar plays a college rogue,Astha,paired opposite him,plays an outgoing and progressive girl. “And we are not stuck in salwar suits and plaits,we are dressed like modern Punjabans,” says Astha.

Let’s see if the charm of youth works this October.
