Winning designs

City-based architects SD Sharma and his son Sangeet Sharma were conferred the coveted Archidesign Awards 2009 for their respective projects in different categories. SD Sharma bagged the award for Best Institutional Building for his project National Institute for Plant Genome Research,New Delhi. The institute comprises of hi-tech laboratory areas,auditorium and large residential sector. Sangeet Sharma was awarded for his project KMG IT Towers at Mohali in the category “Best Sustainable Building” of the year 2009. The project has a rare planning aspect of combining offices and residential areas in one multi-storeyed complex. Planned on energy saving principles,the concept and the evolution of building are based on passive solar architecture.
