In a bid to placate farmers after being named PPCC President, Capt Amarinder Singh Monday asked them to bear with him for one more year, hinting at a revival of the real estate sector if the Congress forms the government in 2017.
“I promise you the return of the same good old days where the choice will be yours whether to make profits from agriculture or by selling off your land,” he said, while reassuring them, “it is matter of just one more year after which the things will fall in place and everything will be alright.”
During Amarinder’s regime from 2002-2007, property prices had skyrocketed. But now, the PPCC President said, farmers were faced with a double whammy. “While the agriculture has remained no more profitable, the prices of land have hit rock bottom, leaving no option for the farmers,” he pointed out, while recalling how during his tenure farmers were getting good returns on their produce and the prices of land had also gone substantially up.”
“I promise you agriculture will be my first priority for revival”, he told the farmers.
