Virbhadra CD case: VB awaits lab reply

The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau is awaiting clarifications from the forensic laboratory on the CD allegedly pertaining to Union Minister of Steel Virbhadra Singh’s controversial conversations before it files the chargesheet in the case.

The clarification is due any time in January and the bureau is likely to submit the chargesheet by the month end.

The Vigilance had sought certain clarifications from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL),Chandigarh,which in its report had confirmed the voice in the CD as that of Virbhadra and his wife former MP Pratibha Singh.

Subsequently,the Vigilance had registered a case against Virbhadra and his wife for an alleged corruption deal mentioned in the CD.

Director General of Police (Vigilance) D S Manhas said,“Soon after receiving clarification from the laboratory,we will submit the challan by the end of January or in February.” The Himachal Pradesh High Court has asked the state government to file a rejoinder to its earlier reply in court on the CD case on March 8.
