It was a clear case of hit and miss for Sumit Pal Singh. Firstly,the talented player from Jammu and Kashmir fought hard before losing the Under-12 final match to Paramveer Bajwa of Punjab 6-2,3-6,6-4 in an even-contest match on the concluding day of the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament on Friday. But he made up for the loss by winning the Under-12 doubles final partnering with Paramveer Singh Bajwa to get the better of Chandigarh duo of Param Pun and Nihit Rawal 5-3,4-2.
Meanwhile,sixth seed Sachin Kumar upset fifth seed Ranjeet Singh in the Under-16 final match by 5-7,6-4,6-2. The title in the girl’s category went to eighth seed Sweta Sangwan who blanked top seed Nikita of Chandigarh 6-1,6-2. Similarly,top seed Nandini Sharma outplayed Saumya Saxena 6-1,6-1 in the final to claim the Under-12 girl’s title.

Nipun sets up BTS win
Buoyed by a half-century by Nipun helped The British School,Sector 48 record a five-wicket win over DAV Public School,Sector 15,in a match of the First Ashok Vij Memorial Cricket Tournament for U-14 being played at the BTS ground on Friday.
Batting first,DAV Public School,Sector 15 posted a total of 165 for the loss of just one wicket in the allotted 25 overs. Bhawesh was the top scorer as he played a patient knock of 68 runs off 88 balls. Rajat played contributed 36 runs
In reply,BTS chased the target for the loss of five wickets in 23.2 overs. Nipun was the highest scorer for the team with a superb innings of 54 runs. Ramandeep played a knock of 44 runs. In the second match of the day, Green Field Cricket Academy scored a 37-run win over Stepping Stone Cricket Academy.
