The Panchkula police claims to have arrested a snatcher while he was trying to escape after snatching the purse of a school teacher on Saturday.
According to police officials,around 3.45 pm when Shagun Sharma,a teacher with Saupins School,was standing outside the school in Sector 9,a youth snatched her purse and fled.
Sharma immediately made a call to the police control room and informed them that her purse containing a mobile phone and Rs 300 cash was stolen.
The police patrolling parties swiftly swung into action and the team led by ASI Shish Pal and ASI Surjeet Singh spotted the accused trying to hide in the bushes near Canara Bank,Sector 16,and arrested him. The accused was identified as Sunil,a native of Rampur village in Moradabad district of Uttar Paradesh,presently residing near Labour Chowk near Sector 16,Panchkula, said a police official.
Later in the day,Superintendent of Police,Maneesh Chaudhary,awarded commendation certificates with a cash reward for the police team which nabbed the accused.
The district police achieved another success by solving a robbery case when ASI Mohan Singh,along with his patrolling party,apprehended Harpreet alias Neeta,a resident of Saini Mohalla,Pinjore. Neeta,a college student,was allegedly involved in snatchings of purses and mobile phones, said a police official.
