Panchkula police arrested two accused on Friday in connection with the kidnapping of a seven-year-old reported on Thursday.
The accused,Pushpinder Singh aka Kalu (40) and Niyajudin aka Raju (20) have been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. Police informed that they had abducted the child with the intent of demanding ransom from the family. However,they were nabbed before any calls could have been made. The child has been safely recovered and necessary medical tests have been conducted.
Police informed that the accused Pushpinder was currently staying in Maddanwala,in the same locality where the child lived. On Thursday evening,both the accused abducted the boy and fled. They kept travelling in order to stay away from police,before they were caught near the Nanakpur bus stand.
Both the accused have been found to be illiterate and unemployed drug addicts according to the police. Pushpinder is a resident of Khanabadosh and was ousted by his family after he failed to retain jobs and engaged in selling his family belongings. Niyajudin is a resident of Bhojpur district in Bihar. Naveen Sandhu,SHO of Pinjore police station said,Both were looking for prospects of earning quick and easy money in order to fulfill their drug needs. Niyajudin also needed money to get back to his home town. So they kidnapped the boy in order to ask for ransom against releasing him. The accused knew each other for the past eight months.
On October 11,at around 6 pm,Bhagwann Das,a resident of Maddanwala had registered a complaint that the younger of his two sons,Pawan (7) had not returned home after he went out to play with other children of the locality,the previous day. A case of abduction was registered at the Pinjore police station and investigations were going on.
