Tube talk

It's a campaign that tells the viewers to take charge and not be a puppet in their television’s hands.

Look who’s talking!
Aamir brings to life the travails of Ramdas, one of India’s finest ventriloquists on his new Tata Sky commercial

It’s a campaign that tells the viewers to take charge and not be a puppet in their television’s hands. Shopping, cooking, viewing Aartis across sacred temples in the country and much more,Tata Sky Actve services is going full on with its promotion, and has once more roped in their brand ambassador Aamir Khan, who,as usual is out there, entertaining us with yet another new avataar. This time,he’s sporting a predominantly ‘70s look with long sideburns,a bow tie and checkered suit. Based on the travails of Ramdas, one of India’s finest ventriloquists, the role has been of particular challenge to Aamir,as being the perfectionist that he is,Aamir had to completely immerse himself into this fascinating character to come out with a thoroughly entertaining performance. The latest campaign encompasses the comical squabbles of Aamir and ACTVE – mascot of Tata Sky’s interactive services,as they showcase the benefits of Actve services.

“When Tata Sky came to me with this concept I thought it was unique and innovative. Honestly,I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to portray the role of a ventriloquist. When I speak our beloved puppet whom we call Actve also speaks and expresses and when I’m talking the puppet is speaking and expressing. Hence, both characters have to be brought to life at one time which is difficult. A ventriloquist takes years of training to be able to perfect this art. I hope the audiences enjoy the ad as much as I did!” shoots Aamir. While the ad has been directed by Prasoon Pandey,Aamir’s retro styling has been done by stylist Arjun Bhasin. Check it out.
