Soft drapes and an earthy colour palette seem to be the emerging trends for Autumn-Winter 2013. This became evident as Urvashi Kaurs show rolled out on WIFWs second day. The collection titled Fez is the designers take on ethnic nomadism, which retained her signature style of a relaxed aesthetic. The silhouettes were a mix of slouchy and stiff and we liked Kaurs choice of handwoven fabrics such as matka, tussar, chanderi and linen silk.
She also addressed the fall-winter element by bringing in fabrics such as lightweight wool cashmere and jersey which lent fluidity to the collection. The colours were suited to the nippy weather with a palette that included amber yellow and forest green with hints of deep blue, sand and sky grey. The long-sleeved tops, wrap jackets, tunics with asymmetric folds and hemlines, and billowing dresses are what one can think of wearing to a soiree on a cold winter day or,as Kaur would put it,a travel far away.
Actor and former model Gul Panag closed the show for her friend. She wore a dress in deep rust with a mega metallic flower in her hair and a statement choker.
