Designer couple Falguni and Shane Peacock will create the bridal outfit for renowned American tattoo artist Kat Von D
Given that they have been regulars at the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) for quite some time now,it is hardly a surprise that designer couple Falguni and Shane Peacock have garnered a fair share of popularity in the US celebrity circuit. While their client roster boasts of names such as Madonna,Lady Gaga,Britney Spears,Katy Perry,Fergie,Nicole Scherzinger,Rihanna,Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, the duo has now taken forward another of its celeb associations this time by designing the bridal outfit for Kat Von D.
A celebrated American tattoo artist, television personality and model,Von D recently shot for the January cover of LA Inked magazine, where Falguni and Shane Peacock dressed her up in a glamorous black knee-length dress. The designers have since then enjoyed a good rapport with Von D,who has now roped them to design for her August 2013 wedding with musician Joel Thomas Zimmerman aka Deadmau5. It was our manager in Los Angeles who introduced us to Von D and told us about the cover. We met her again in January and it was then that she asked us to design her wedding gown, says Falguni.
On their part, the designer duo is planning to come up with three to four options for the artists D-day. What makes it even more interesting and challenging is the fact that it will be an underwater-themed wedding. In keeping with the theme, her wedding gown will be very unique. Firstly, the colour is not the typical ivory or white. We are working with teals, blues and deep violet ombre. The gown will have a very sleek silhouette with a mermaid-like feel, she says, adding that they have not yet finalised the finer details.
Falguni also believes that there are many similarities between their design sensibilities and those of Von D. Like us,Von D also likes the dark-and-edgy-yet-glamorous look. Besides, she loves Gothic rock as much as we do. Our outfits take a futuristic approach, transforming classic silhouettes into clean minimalist shapes with high-tech fabrications, says Falguni, who has launched a showroom in Los Angeles and is now eyeing expansion.
