Besharam,says the films director Abhinav Singh Kashyap,has come out of his own madness

The next time Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge plays out,there will be another vivid memory associated with it Ranbir Kapoor merrily taking a leak by the golden fields and singing,Tujhe dekha to yeh jaana sanam. This is one of the scenes from Besharam,directed and co-written by Abhinav Singh Kashyap,which releases on October 2. Kashyap was in Chandigarh on Thursday to screen the films trailer. In Besharam,Kapoor plays Babli Besharam,a vagabond with an I-couldnt care-less attitude. Styled by designer Kunal Rawal,the actor will be seen in netted ganjis,vibrant pants and shirts,roadside-romeo scarves,sunglasses and even a bright gold disco dancer outfit,. He gets to mouth equally colourful lines such as tumhari ragon main khoon nahin rabri daudti hai.

In fact,Bablis personality traits flow from Kashyap himself. I am a pretty mad person and never take myself seriously. I enjoy picking on myself,and if need be,on the industry too in a well-intentioned manner, he says,humming Kehta hai joker from Raj Kapoors film Mera Naam Joker.

For this mad caper,the music had to be pulsating and Kashyap says Lalit Pandit has tried to achieve that. While the song Love ki ghanti is already making news for alleged plagiarism (its similar to Italian song Bella Ciao),Kashyap released the foot-tapping title track Besharam on Thursday as well. Because the film is predominantly fun,the lyrics had to echo the same. We have seven tracks in all,and additional remixes. Theres also an acoustic number and we invested eight to nine months on the music, he adds.

The film promises a message too there is never a right way of doing the wrong thing.

Also,if you keep letting people run your life,you will reach nowhere. You need to be a little besharam,fearless to make it big, says Kashyap. Inspired from an incident that took place in co-writer Rajeev Barnwals life,the film also stars Pallavi Sharda,and saw a casting coup when Kashyap signed all the three Kapoors: Rishi,Neetu and Ranbir. With Papa Kapoor calling the shots in his family,was it a handful handling all of them at once,we ask the director?

No,I was hands-free. They are all professional and knew how to manage themselves, he says.
