Bollywoods well-dressed,the latest red carpet trends and the designer fraternity were the inspiration behind the theme of the freshers party organised by the students of the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD),to welcome new students,this weekend at JW Marriott Chandigarh. Apart from letting their hair down and having a great time,the students presented an insight into various styles of design gurus such as Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee by dressing in outfits inspired by them. Completing the ambience was a specially created red carpet area that saw students strut in various designs. The students also paid tribute to their mentors. The style showcase included looks such as Manish Malhotra for Kareena Kapoor and Kajol; Neeta Lulla for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sridevi; and Sabyasachi Mukherjee for Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan. The Lakme Fashion Week is now an integral part of INIFD as it is the technical partner. The bash also saw students vie for the titles of INIFD Style Icon and Best Designer Outfit,apart from Mr and Miss Fresher. All Aboard Ever since Chandigarh Haat,a lifestyle exhibition in the city,rolled out at the Exhibition Grounds in Sector 34,its been the talk of the town. At the entrance is replica of the Titanic. Its through this 60 feet long and 200 feet broad ship that visitors make their way to the exhibition area. Its also become a backdrop for many photographs for the visitors. Formally opened by a group of 50 children from Zulfikaar Khans Theatre Age,the exhibition packs in more than a 100 stalls with exhibitors not just from the country but from Pakistan as well. Prominent among them are those showcasing Onyx products along with apparel and lifestyle ones. There are separate enclosures for a Craft Bazar,Food Plaza and Amusement Park to cater to all age groups. The Food Plaza is dishing out Punjabi delicacies such as Amritsari Naan alongside Daal Baati Churma from Rajasthan and Gujarat. During the course of 45-day-long exhibition,the time period of the Navratras will also witness group Dandiya performances.
