Spurious petrol causes breakdowns in Sector 2

Nearly a dozen customers complained that their vehicles broke down immediately after getting petrol filled from a petrol pump in Sector 2,Panchkula,on Wednesday.

While the complainants said the petrol sold to them contained water,the manager of the petrol pump,Sushil Kumar,said water might have entered the main supply due to the heavy rains on Tuesday night.

I got fuel filled in my Santro car from the Sector-2 petrol pump,but within a few minutes,the car stopped. Other customers also faced the same problem. The police were immediately informed about it, said Sandeep Sharma,a resident of Pinjore.

After the police complaint,the district food and supply officer was also called in to take the samples of the petrol for lab testing.
