Springfest 2010,a cultural extravaganza organised by the Association of Resident Doctors at PGI,kicked off at the Bhargava Auditorium at the institute on Saturday. Pradip Mehra,advisor to the UT Administrator,was the chief guest on the occasion. He lit the traditional lamp to declare the fest open.
The five-day fest which will conclude on April 21 is an annual cultural event organised by resident doctors and attracts participants from across the country.
The inaugural programme began with a performance by hearing impaired students of the Vatika School for the Deaf and Dumb. The girls performed a dance on the number Piya tose naina laga re and the boys presented a Suryanamaskar.

Sakhuja,Professor S K Jindal,chairman,Organising Committee and Organising Secretary Dr Soni Lyngdoh were present on the occasion. Audiences will be treated to some Hindi music and Indian dance performances on Sunday.
Weeklong celebrations conclude at PU
The weeklong celebrations at the University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism concluded on Saturday at the English auditorium in Panjab University.
Prof Lalit K Bansal,director of the institute,read out annual report highlighting various in-campus and off campus activities undertaken by students to enrich themselves as budding professionals. Anil Malhotra,general manager of Hotel Taj in Chandigarh was the chief guest. He honoured the students for their extracurricular activities.
