ICL players apply for NOC
Most of the ICL players from Chandigarh have applied for No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the governing committee of the Indian Cricket league to play in the BCCI’s domestic tournaments. Following BCCI”s amnesty offer,most of the Chandigarh based players have completed the required formalities. “We are hopeful of getting the NOC from the ICL authorities and we hope to play in BCCI’s domestic tournaments. It will widen our horizons and we are hopeful for a positive response,” said Reetinder Singh Sodhi,a member of the Ahmedabad Rockets.
Cricket trials on May 18
The Fatehgarh Sahib Cricket Association (FSCA),affiliated to Punjab Cricket Association,will conduct selection trials for Under-19 probables on May 18 at 3 pm at Saffron City School in Fatehgarh Sahib. According to Sanjeev Aggarwal,secretary,FSCA,Fatehgarh Sahib team will participate in the Punjab Minor Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy,scheduled to be held in the last week of May. Players born on or after September 1,1990 are eligible to take part in the trials. Players must bring their original Date-of-Birth certificates. Mohali Cricket Association Academy will take on Sector 37 Cricket Academy in the four-team Inter-Academy Cricket League for Under-16 being organised by the Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy at the PCA Ground in Mohali on Saturday. The 40-over-each-side match will start from 7.30 am.
Athletics trials tomorrow
AAAC will be conducting selection trials to select Chandigarh junior athletics team (Under 18) which will participate in National Youth Athletics Championships to be held from May 29 to May 30 at Madurai. Trials will also be held to select Chandigarh senior athletics team which will participate in Federation Cup Senior National to be held from June 24 to June 27 at Chennai. The Trials for both the teams will be held at Sports Complex,Sector-7,Chandigarh on May 17 at 5 pm. Only bonafide residents of Chandigarh can appear for the trials. The junior athletes are advised to come along with them original date of birth certificate. The athletes should report to Iqbal Singh and Sarabjeet Singh UT administration athletics coaches.
Pardeep claims +90 kg title
Pardeep Singh claimed the first position in the above 90 kg weight category in the 3rd Sharda Gold Cup in wrestling held at Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 40 on Friday. Hardeep Singh and Pardeep Kumar claimed the second and third spot,respectively. Meanwhile,Mahipat Kumar won title in the above 70 kg weight category. He was followed by Sonu Budhwar and Rajesh Kumar. Sandeep claimed the first position in the below 60 kg weight category.
