‘Schools will have to implement RTE’

Talking about the education system he said even in the last 60 years,we had not understood the meaning of education. It is very important that the multi-disciplinarity of life should be integrated in studies.

“It is very important that children be allowed to discover themselves and figure out what they want to be and what they wish to study,rather than parents imposing their dreams ,” he added.

Speaking about Comprehensive,Continuous Evaluation system,the minister said,“Personality of a child should not be judged by his/her performance in exams,it is about the overall development of children,including participation in co-curricular activities”.

On implementation of the RTE Act in different states and how certain schools were dilly dallying,he said,“Just like not all children in a family are the same,so are schools. But sooner or later,these schools will also have to implement the Act”.
