Realtor takes U-turn,says was shot at accidentally

Gulraj Singh Randhawa (25),a realtor and resident of Phase 3B2 who sustained a gunshot injury late on Tuesday night, took a U-turn from his statement on Wednesday.

Gulraj Singh Randhawa (25),a realtor and resident of Phase 3B2 who sustained a gunshot injury late on Tuesday night, took a U-turn from his statement on Wednesday. He denied being abducted from near his residence, assaulted and shot at by four people,as claimed by him earlier. Randhawa now terms the shooting as an “accident”.

Following an affidavit from Randhawa on this, the police closed the case even before registering an FIR.

“Randhawa was carrying his licenced pistol while taking a stroll with friend Sukhraj. He had handed over the gun to Sukhraj when it accidentally went off and a bullet hit his left thigh,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jatinder Singh Aulakh quoted the affidavit.

The SSP said since the victim did not want any action to be initiated in the case, the police could not investigate further to ascertain which of his two statements was true.

On Tuesday,Randhawa had told Newsline: “I was bundled in a black Tata Safari by four armed men who thrashed and threatened me over a property dispute.” He was dumped near QuarkCity in Phase VIII-B,after being shot at,Randhawa had said.

Talking to Newsline on Wednesday,Randhawa repeated the statement he gave to the police. “I don’t want any action in the case,” he said, refusing to divulge the reason behind his turnaround.
