The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has announced the cancellation of its planned one-day strike, originally set for Monday. This decision comes in response to the Union Law and Justice Ministry’s withdrawal of the controversial Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which had prompted widespread concern within the legal community.

The draft bill, introduced on February 13, faced significant opposition from lawyers and the Bar Council of India (BCI), leading to planned protests and strikes across various legal bodies. In light of these developments, the Ministry concluded the consultation process and committed to revising the bill based on the feedback received.

In a statement, Jasdev Singh Brar, Acting President of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, commended the unity and determination of the legal fraternity in addressing their professional concerns. He emphasized the importance of collective action and expressed gratitude for the government’s responsiveness to their issues.
