Police stations realigned in city

With the new police system in place,Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh has ordered the re-alignment of the existing and the new police stations in the city.

The new police stations will be at Daresi,Punjab Agricultural University,Daba,Dugri,Mehrbaan and Jamalpur,while the re-alignment has been done in existing police divisions including Division Number 2 Field Ganj,3 CMC,5 Civil Lines,6 Dholewal,7 Vardhman,8 Kailash Chowk,police stations at Model Town,Salem Tabri,Shimlapuri,Sadar,Laddowal,Haibowal,Sahnewal,Jodhewal and Focal Point.

As per the latest notification,62 colonies like Jassian,Hargobind Nagar,Pritam Nagar,Sandhu Colony,Sunil Park,Bajwa Nagar,Anand Nagar,Tandon Nagar,New Tagore Nagar,SBS Nagar,Durga Nagar all the way up to Kundan Puri,New Kundan Puri,Prem Nagar and New Upkar Nagar which were earlier under Haibowal Police Station will now be taken care by Salem Tabri Police Station.

Similarly 18 areas including Brown Road,Sahebzada Raod,Shahpur Road,Karimpura Road till Saini Street,Kucha Labhu Ram,Kucha Pandit Dhani Ram which were earlier part of Division Number 2 will now fall under Division 1 Kotwali.

Seven areas like Kalsianwalu Gali,Vishwakarmapuri,Sewakpura,Jujhar Nagar,Haripura,Preet Nagar,Deep Nagar,Himmat Pura,Bazigar Mohalla have been shifted from Division Number 2 to Police Station Shimlapuri.

Mandi Bute Shah,Bagh Khazanchain,Saban Bazaar,New Mohalla,Mochpura Bzara,Gokal Road,Thakur Dwara,Bhagwali Gali,Kucha Seth Sant Das,and Kucha Rangi Ram have been shifted from Division Number 3 to Division number 1.

Areas falling between Railway Guest House,PWD Guest House,Basant Raod,Dr Hira Singh Road,Rani Jhansi Raod,Ghumar Mandi going via Prince Hostel,Gandhi Lane,Park Street and Government College for Women,Railway Colony 10 have been shifted from Division number 5 to Division Number 8 Kailash Chowk. Meanwhile ,Manjit Nagar and Railway Quarter Diesel will now fall under Model Town Police Station.

Prabhat Nagar,Guru Arjan Dev Nagar to Vishkarma Colony will fall under Focal Point Police Station while Dharmpura,Kashmir Nagar,Harcharan Nagar and Ranjit Singh Park will now fall under Division Number 3,Industrial Area B,Industraila Estate,Nirankari Mohalla gali Number 5to 7 will fall under Division number 2.

Apart from this,Rajinder Nagar,Shahi Mohala,Kundan Puri,New Kundan puri and others which will now fall under Division number 4. Baddowal,Alamgir,Sarihn all the way up to Ranian and Harnampura will now be under Dehlon police station instead of Sadar.

The newly carved Daba police station will include areas like Lachhman Nagar,Shaheed Ajit Singh Nagar,Guru Harkrishan Naga ,Gurmeet Nagar,Gagan Nagar,Kot Mangal Singh upto New Amar Nagar,Kunti Nagar,Shiv Colony,Harkrishan Nagar,Issher Singh Nagar,and GNE College. These areas were earlier under Shimlapuri police station or Sadar.

Despite order,meat shops remain open
Despite the orders of Commissioner of Police to all rehris and shops selling meat and eggs to remain closed on March 28 on account of Mahavir Jayanti,many shops were seen selling meat and other related products. Dr Sandeep Jain,Chief Coordinator,Care of Animals and Protection of Environment (CAPE) said,Our members found many shops selling meat and eggs in Shimlapuri,Basant Avenue,near CMCH and some area of Sherpur. He further said a few reputed hotels were also serving meat and eggs.
