A court on Friday denied the local police custody of three persons, who were arrested on Thursday for abducting a 22-year-old Ghaziabad youth from his cousin’s house in Kambali village near Mohali. Sunny Dogra was rescued by the police within two hours of his abduction. The three accused — Manohar Kumar Gupta of Sector 56,Chandigarh,Tarun Goel of Bathinda and Jagpal Singh of Sector 20,Panchkula — were arrested when they were taking away Sunny in a Tata Indica car but their two accomplices had managed to escape. On the ground of ascertaining the whereabouts of the absconding accused and unearthing the motive behind the abduction, the local police sought four-day police remand of the trio. However, the court remanded them in judicial custody till February 11.
