You have to credit this young restaurateur for creating a buzz most of the time. Given the success of his earlier food festival that paired a bouquet of wines with Oriental meals followed by a low-calorie steamed and stir-fried spread,Vipul Dua is back in action once again. This time, his restaurant Purple Rice tucked away in Sector 35 is rolling out an Oriental barbeque and sizzler teamed with beer food festival. “The weather is playing perfect host and there’s nothing like sizzling hot meals at this time,” Dua says out first. One look at the menu and you realise he’s aiming to bring in more Malaysian as well as Thai meals. “Since it’s a barbecue special,we decided to whip up grilled dishes but there are served as sizzlers on the table,” informed Dua who has divided the meals into appetizers as well as a more generous main course. And yes,he’s also making the most of seafood. Leading the lineup is ‘Indonesian prawns satay’ and you can choose from butterfly prawns to the more robust tiger prawns. For those who relish prawns there’s also ‘Hot Chilli Jumbo Prawns’ to choose from. “Our seafood specials also include whole fry pomfret to grilled pepper sole fish,” lists out the restaurateur who also brings in an Oriental delicacy – ‘Kambing’ that pairs mutton skewers with spicy peanut sauce. The good part is that all the appetizers are served on a sizzler platter. Another highly recommended starter is the ‘Five Spices Lamb Sizzler’. “But if you are looking for chicken then try the ‘Ayam’ which bring in chicken skewers with spicy sauce or a ‘Kai’ that’s a sliced chicken marinated in Thai spices,” offers Dua. For those sticking to their veggies, choose from the likes of pan fried dimsums or a Shitake and garlic with green pepper roast skewer to a veggie variety of baby potatoes, shallots and garlic grilled with butter soy sauce. And if all of this has you salivating then here’s a glimpse of the main course. “All the sizzlers in the main course are served with a choice of rice or hakka noodles and crispy chilli potato,” points out Dua. Choose from the likes of sliced fish with chilli bean sauce to a wholesome pomfret or Red Snapper to roast lamb with seasonal vegetables. “Another highlight of the festival is the beer range that we are offering. One can choose from brands such as Stella,Hoegaarden,Becks,Corona,Budweiser,Carlsberg,Little Devils,Tiger,Kingfisher,” Dua lists out.
