It was a day of high drama at Government College for Girls,Sector 14,as parents and students on Wednesday protested against the college authorities for delay in declaring results of first semester of Bachelors in Business Administration. The parents also blamed the college for deliberately failing students in the re-examination of the first semester of the BBA held in July.
Around 40 protestors, including students and their parents, gathered on the campus and raised slogans against the college for withholding results of BBA (first semester) held in April-May. Tempers ran high as the college staff and the protestors argued. Some of the parents claimed that their wards were failed in the first semester examination of BBA deliberately. There are around 35 students in the BBA department who took sat for the examination.
We are in the third semester now. The college first failed to declare the result of the first semester and when they finally did, they have declared us fail in one or the other subject. It has been over a year since we sat for the test and this is what we have been told now, said Jyoti,a student. Shalu, another student, said,Even if the delay was on the part of the college, they should have tried to expedite the matter with the university.
The college authorities denied the allegations saying the delay in declaration of results was at the part of Kurukshetra University that conducted the examinations. We do not check answersheets here in the college. Also we brought the attendance record of wards of the parents who were protesting and found out that some of them did not attend the classes regularly, which must have reflected in their results, said Prof R S Sangha, the principal.
