Panchayat Samiti polls: 22 nominations filed in Mohali district; Dera Bassi registers zero entries for third day

The nomination process for the Panchayat Samiti elections gained momentum on the third day, with 22 candidates filing papers across SAS Nagar district, 16 from Kharar and six from Majri Block.

However, Dera Bassi continued to show no participation, recording zero nominations for the third consecutive day.
District Election Officer–cum–Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said the nomination window, open from December 1 to December 4, is now entering its final phase. She detailed that Kharar block received 16 nominations on Wednesday; ene each from Cholta Khurd and Chadiala, two each from Bari Karoran, Mullanpur Garibdas, Maachhipur, and Majatri, three each from Sotal and Ghoga zones.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that December 4 is the last day for filing nominations. Forms will be accepted between 11 am and 3 pm at these locations: SDM office, Kharar, for Kharar Panchayat Samiti; BDPO office, Majri, for Majri Panchayat Samiti; and SDM Office, Dera Bassi for Dera Bassi Panchayat Samiti.

She urged prospective candidates to ensure timely submission, as the district moves closer to the crucial phase of the local body elections.
