Under attack from the Opposition party Congress over obscene dance programme during the opening ceremony of the Second World Cup Kabaddi,Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Friday said the state government has asked the company managing the event to ensure that nothing of this sort is repeated during the closing ceremony
Sukhbir said the government had only given contract for the programme and was not aware of its contents.
We were aware about Shah Rukh Khans performance but not about other members of the dance team, he said, while taking on the Congress for not looking at the big picture.
Instead of appreciating the international event they (Congress) are criticising us, Sukhbir said.
The Deputy CM also hit out at Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh for comparing Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal with slain Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and said such a language is shameful.
Use of such a language by a former CM is shameful. Amarinders statements are coming out of his frustration Sukhbir said while announcing that he will not use abusive language against the PPCC chief.
We will not abuse him as Amarinder is not our agenda but Punjab state. Amarinder had no agenda for the development of the state and was nervous with the growing popularity of the state government, he added.
Ironically,he ended up calling Amarinder a mad man and compared him to Gaddafi in the same press meet.
Gaddafi was a king and Captain is also a king, said Sukhbir, adding that it seemed Amarinder had lost his mental balance and repeatedly kept on saying one thing only like a paralegal (mad man).
Accusing the Punjab government of plundering the states wealth,Amarinder had on Thursday compared the CM with Gaddafi.
