From the ramp to television to now the big screen, model Parul Chaudhary has graduated fast
The wait for this lady dressed natty in green was the longest but in the end completely worth it. Slotted to be the ‘show stopper’ for NIIFT’s fashion finale ‘Anukama 2009’,model Parul Chaudhary arrived from Mumbai visibly excited about being back in Chandigarh. In the past she’s been a regular on the ramp, specially for NIIFT shows but that was much before this Gladrags runner-up and Bridal Asia model made her transition to television. “But modeling came first,” the leggy lady smiles to say. Telly tubbies will remember her from the show ‘Baa,Bahu Aur Baby’ that was followed up with work in ‘Kayamat’,’Left Right Left’ and ‘Dehleez’. “The shift from Delhi to Mumbai brought in more work,” admits Chaudhary who has slowly but successfully graduated from being a model to an actor sans any help from acting classes. “It all came naturally and as I did more television shows I realised I enjoyed acting as much as I loved modeling,” the model-actor lets us know. And once on television she was noticed early on and as expected she’s changed tracks that now lead to Bollywood. “I am working in two films. There’s Magna production’s ‘Apartment’ and another one titled ‘Accident at Hill Road’,” Parul lists out her line-up. Interestingly, both the films are thrillers and as Parul puts it,they are “character-based stories.”
“In ‘Apartment’ I play a very outgoing air hostess who is also best friend to Tanushree Dutta and is a very blunt,get-to-the-point girl,” the model explains. Funnily, she plays best friend to Celina Jaitely in the other debut ‘Accident at Hill Road’. “Unlike the air hostess character,in ‘Accident at Hill Road’ I play a simple Gujju girl who is in awe of Celina and tries to copy her and ends up making a fool of herself. The film also stars Farooq Sheikh and Abhimanyu,” briefs Parul who is almost through with the shooting schedules. “I had two days off and decided to head here,” you hear her say. While the films should see the light of day sometime around Diwali,Chaudhary wants to make the most of the time in between. Given her multi-tasking streak, she’s not calling it quits with either the ramp or television. “There’s another TV show in the pipeline and I would be game for similar modeling assignments,” Parul adds and yes, she’s open to reality shows as well. Anyone listening out there?
