Mrs on the move

It wasn’t meant to be,but looks like an impulse decision paid off for our Mrs on the move.

City-bred Karishma Randeva Mookhey is making the most of the run-up to Gladrags Mrs India 2010 finals

It wasn’t meant to be,but looks like an impulse decision paid off for our Mrs on the move. Former television actor and model Karishma Randeva who married Yookta Mookhey’s brother almost two years back is in the news once again. The spirited and vivacious Karishma is in the race for the title of Gladrags Mrs India 2009. “Although my in-laws were keen that I enter the contest,I wasn’t so sure,” reminisces Karishma, who happened to be around on the day of the auditions in Mumbai and on a whim entered her name. “Rest as they say is history,” quips Karishma speaking over the phone from Mumbai. Interestingly, this year the pageant has taken a reality turn and is now a TV series on NDTV Imagine. With cameras following the ladies 24/7,it’s not just a contest of brains and competence in all fields but also one that will monitor the Mrs for their attitude, behaviour and performances in real surroundings.

“I had absolutely no clue about the changes in the contest’s format. In fact,I was so taken aback when Maureen Ma’am and her TV crew arrived home one day to announce that I had made it to the final round of 15,” shares Karishma who is completely enamoured by Maureen Wadia, the brain behind Gladrags and their contests. “She was so warm and welcoming that I realised I had done the right thing by choosing to enter. Also, she’s such a benchmark for married women,” admits Karishma, who hails from Chandigarh and was a popular face on the ramp here before she progressed to Mumbai. A successful albeit short stint in television and she decided to take a breather. “Marriage has been so fulfilling and I am still enjoying the honeymoon period,” laughs Karishma who has been “totally” supported in her decision to go for the Gladrags title. “More than just winning the crown,I think we all are so lucky to have access to such good trainers and grooming workshops,” she points out. The ladies are being groomed by celebrity trainers who are specialists in the field of fitness, beauty and even etiquette. “We have the likes of Leena Mongre for our fitness regimes…it’s impossible to get her otherwise,” mentions Karishma who is making the most of the run-up to the finals. Here’s wishing her luck!

The show airs every Sunday until December 27,from 7 pm to 8 pm on NDTV Imagine.
