Mohali Sanitation workers continue strike

The municipal corporation has given a Rs 13-crore contract to the sanitation contractor.

Continuing their strike for the second day on Friday, sanitary workers threatened the authorities to stop collecting garbage from houses if their demands are not met.

The agitating workers also held a protest outside the MC office and accused the government of ignoring their demands.

Sajjan Singh, who were leading the protesting workers, said they are firm on their stand and all the workers will participate in the strike and will not lift garbage from Monday onwards.

Singh said they will also not allow the private contractor carry out any sanitation work in the city until their demands are met. The protesters also said they will not let the mechanised cleansing machines operate in the city during the strike.
