Missing infant: Cops yet to trace person who made ransom calls

The Panchkula Police is yet to trace the person who allegedly made ransom calls to the uncle of missing 10-month-old-baby,Nishant on Wednesday.

The Panchkula Police is yet to trace the person who allegedly made ransom calls to the uncle of missing 10-month-old-baby,Nishant on Wednesday.

Baby Nishant of Manakpur Pinjore had gone missing from the Mansa Devi temple on September 28 and his parents had lodged a compliant at Mansa Devi Complex (MDC) police station a day after he went missing. Police registered a daily diary report on the complaint of Nishant’s parents.

In-charge Deputy Commissioner Police (Panchkula) DSP Krishan Kumar said,“Now after the ransom call,a case was registered under section 364 A (Kidnapping for ransom) in MDC police station.”

On September 28,Anil Kumar and his wife Sarita had gone to Mansa Devi temple and due to the heavy rush got separated. Sarita gave Nishant to an unknown couple standing near her,so that she could find her husband. The couple also gave Sarita their mobile phone number. But when Sarita returned she did not find the couple. Sarita,however,managed to find her husband and when they called the number of the couple,it was found fake.

Police sources said that the ransom calls for Rs 10 lakhs were made to Nishant’s uncle who informed Sarita and Anil about the calls. Anil and Sarita later informed the police about the ransom calls. “Since then the mobile has been switched off,” said police official.

Police have been able to trace the phone number from which the two calls were made.”The phone call was made from a Haryana cell number,but the phone number had fake registration documents,” said a police officer at MDC.
