Men Are Back 3.0

It’s that time of the year when the men take over the ramp and the designers are busy creating garments to suit the male silhouette, while the women sit back – ogle, comment and appreciate. It’s time for the third edition of the Van Heusen Mens Week 2011 (VHMW),being organised by FDCI,in New Delhi. Slated to take place from September 2 to September 4,VHMW will be held at The Grand Hotel,Vasant Kunj.

The three-day-long event will host 17 designers from across India, showcasing their menswear collection. Arjun Khanna, known for his trademark classy collection,is the opening designer and the finale will see the opulence and flamboyance of Karan Johar and Varun Bahl. Celebrated couturier Tarun Tahiliani marks his debut at the event and is set to showcase his collection on September 2. Other designers taking part in VHMW are Abhishek Gupta,Abraham & Thakore,Anky by Ankita & Anjana Bhargav,Ashish N Soni,Krishna Mehta,Maniviraj Khosla,Rajesh Pratap Singh,Rajvi Mohan,Rohit & Abhishek,Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna,Sanchita,Shantanu & Nikhil and Troy Costa & Zubair Kirmani. “This event is the best thing FDCI has done and with an increasing number of designers taking part in the event,it’s a clear sign that menswear is gaining a foothold. I won’t be surprised if next year VHMW is spread over 4-5 days,” says Shantanu of designer duo Shantanu-Nikhil.

If these bits get you excited, then the cherry on the pie – 17 debutante male models scorching the ramp – will surely get the temperature rising.
