To address the plethora of civic problems in Manimajra,CHB Modern Complex Flats Residents Welfare Association in its governing body meeting,on Wednesday, decided to become pro-active to resolve all such problems.
The body held that despite repeated assurances given by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC),the area still suffers from bad roads, poor lighting, and heaps of garbage.
The association has also decided to approach local MP so that problems being faced by 2,500 families living in CHB flats shall be addressed at earliest.
Regarding roads,it was discussed that the main bus route passing through market area is having pot holes.
This road was widened, but the extended surface area is yet to be carpeted. The situation get worse during rainy seasons that make it an accident prone road.
However, the residents claim that the indifferent attitude of MCC is evident from the fact that instead of re-carpeting the above mentioned road,it re-carpeted a newly built road near Shivalik Gardens,Manimajra.
Another issue that witnessed discussion was poor condition of street lights. The main road of Manimajra and the market area has dingy tube lights instead of sodium vapour lights, felt the welfare association.
When Chandigarh has sodium vapour street lights then why cannot Manimajra have them as well? This step motherly treatment towards us is somewhat difficult to understand, observed the members of the association.
The residence area in front of the market is the most neglected. The garbage dumping ground at the main entry point, from eastern gate side, has still not been shifted to some other place and the surroundings have been left to emanate perennial foul smell.
