April 23 is a date that Gurdaas Maan will continue to cherish. It is the historic day on which the Punjabi singer became the second Indian, after Lata Mangeshkar,to perform at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in the United Kingdom. “It was an amazing honour to perform at such a prestigious venue. I felt the spirits of the past greats who have performed on the same stage and felt incredibly honoured that I was able to bring Punjabi music to this great venue,” says the singer, days after he reverberated the hallowed hall with live music,on two consecutive nights,April 23 and 24.

Organised by the UK Box Office, the show saw Maan deliver an unforgettable performance loaded with big hits, beautiful poetry and moments that touched the hearts of those who were lucky enough to get a ticket. Singing his hit numbers,Maan danced, improvised and interacted with the audience and even paid tribute to his wife Manjeet Maan. The evening rounded off on a joyous note,as Maan performed for an extra hour, turning the three-hour show into a four-hour one. “What made the two evenings extra special was the family audience who took time out of their busy schedule to spend their hard earned money on the tickets. I am extremely thankful to them,” adds Maan.

The two Royal Albert Hall dates were part of the incredible ‘Dil Da Mamla’ UK tour. This was followed by sold out shows in Wolverhampton,Leicester and Glasgow. Maan will round off the tour with a performance at Leeds Town Hall on April 29 and LG Arena in Birmingham on April 30. EFS
