Do opposites attract? What is on your chick-list? Is he a dream date? VJ Andy plays Cupid and the Devil & tries to figure out the love-hate puzzle

There’s an MFEO. And then, there is an NMFEO. “Not Made For Each Other,” VJ Andy expands the all-new abbreviation for couples-not-to-be,and in the process, shoots a Cupid’s love-dipped arrow that cuts through the air: do you still dare to date? All set for the season finale of this anti-romance,anti-mush series where he plays both Cupid and the Devil and pairs together two people who are the complete opposite of the other’s idea of perfect match,Andy’s simply relishing the ‘louve-hate’ moments. “We deliberately zero in on opposites for we want to know whether laws of attraction work or not,” Andy and Channel V pack off the couple to a romantic weekend and sparks fly as both get to know each other better. Does it work? “Most of the time,it doesn’t,for people disappoint us with their cliched ‘dream dates’. But overall,it’s fun travelling to different cities, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, breaking state-lines and class-lines and bringing two diametrically opposite individuals on one platform,” Andy wraps up this delicious experiment he got into accidentally. Which explains his ‘out of Indian box’ look and the I-say-chap accent. “I’m a Londoner and before I came to India seven years back,I was, still am,into choreography and styling there,” Andy imported the same skill-set to India and has been working on fashion, movies and music videos. “Let’s see, there was Kaliyon Ka Chaman music video, the choreography for Aloo Chaat,Page 3,worked with the first Viva Girls, did the styling for Get Gorgeous,Ghajini’s Bachchoo song,Tashan,Bachna Aae Haseeno…the list is long,” Andy struck a chord with Channel V’s creative head and signed up for Dare 2 Date.

“The show was quite a revelation, because one man’s chocolate is another man’s poison. And over episodes,we found out that Indians treat dating like marriage!” laughs Andy, defending his show from other ‘romance-based’ reality dramas. “There is no comparison because all of them either focus on mud-slinging and verbal battles on the pretext of romance or the search for so called true love.” As he clears the clutter of drama,Andy rolls out his date-list – “Well, there has to be a chick-list! My date should be confident, great conversationalist, have oodles of personality and I always notice how a person makes you feel. Looks, they are secondary.”

Now that the season finale is round the corner,Andy’s looking forward to another season. But there is something much bigger that’s occupying his time: “an Asian flavour Broadway show,a musical in England with elements of bhangra.” Now that’s going to be grand!
