Ladies ONLY

As soon as she came to know it was an all-women show,Tabassum grabbed the opportunity with arms wide open. The evergreen hostess of Indian television will be soon seen as a judge on Zee’s ‘Hasne Aur Hasane Ka Tonic – Ladies special’,a search to find India’s funniest female stand-up comedian. And she’ll be accompanied by none other than Baba Sehgal. “I’m very excited to act as a judge in this show. When I was told it would be a comedy reality show and that too a ladies only thing,I screamed a yes,” Tabassum flashes her trademark smile. “If you switch to any comedy shows on television, men dominate the scene. With this, the world will know that women too have a great sense of humour, and we’ll be entertaining a fresh line-up of jokes in it,not the same old boring double meaning ones. I’ll also be giving special grace marks to those women who come up with the most original joke,” Tabassum will award her ‘golden belan’ as a trophy.

For Tabassum, comedy is a way of life. “Else life will become quite boring if we don’t add a pinch of comedy to it. It does the work of a chatpati chutney,” she smiles. And by chatpata, she doesn’t mean vulgar comedy. “Nowadays maximum comedy shows have cheap and vulgar jokes. We have specially asked our participants not to present the same as the woman herself is a symbol of purity,” she says.

Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic will have women participants from 16 to 60 years of age,and watchout for Baba who’ll be entertaining everyone with a musical comedy. Tune in on June 27,Saturday,at 8.30 pm on Zee T.V.
