Khate rallies into second round

Riding high on a superb game,Vilaster Khate of India ended the challenge of compatriot Atul Sri Patel with a 6-1,7-5 win to move into the second round in the boys category in the ITF Grade-3 World Ranking Tennis Tournament being played at Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association courts on Monday.

Riding high on a superb game,Vilaster Khate of India ended the challenge of compatriot Atul Sri Patel with a 6-1,7-5 win to move into the second round in the boys category in the ITF Grade-3 World Ranking Tennis Tournament being played at Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association courts on Monday. Khate won the first set with a margin of 6-1 before claiming the second set with a margin of 7-5 to book a berth in the second round. In another first round encounter,India’s Digvijay Singh Mehta scored a 6-2,6-2 win over Sui Fai Kelvin Lam. Mehta claimed the first set with a margin of 6-2 before claiming the second set with an identical margin. In another encounter,Sai Kartik of India scored a 6-4,6-1 win over compatriot Surya Kanwar. Playing an attacking game,Kartik claimed the first set with a 6-4 margin before claiming the second set with a margin of 6-1.

In another match of the same category,Rajat Maheshwari of India ended the challenge of A Mukhamed of Uzbekistan with a narrow 1-6,6-4,7-6 (6) win. Maheshwari lost the first set with a margin of 1-6 before gaining his rhythm back. Maheshwari then won the second set with a margin of 6-4 before claiming the third and final set with a margin of 7-6 (6). In another match in the same category,Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash of Indian scored a 6-7 (4),6-1,6-1 win over Rishabdev Burman. Jayaprakash lost the first set with a 6-7 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-1 margin. Jayaprakash then claimed the third and final set with a margin of 6-2. In the girls’ category,Vaniya Dangwal of India ended the challenge of Rashmi Teltumbde of India with a 6-0,7-5 win.
