“GOD and the divine mother came in my dream and asked me to write something on them and I’ve been fulfilling their wish since,” writer Janaky Sharma,a strong devotee of Lord Vishnu has always focused on the mythological issues. And the latest from her is ‘Devi Puran’ which glorifies the character of Devi, the divine mother. “It exemplifies the virtues and deeds of the Divine Mother (Shakti) and her victory over various Asuras whom even the Trimurti-Brahma,Vishnu and Shiva were unable to defeat in battle. In this book I have described the many avtaars of Devi Maa and her unimaginable greatness,” beams Janaky who feels people don’t know much about mythology, and her book deals with two aspects,’Devi’ as shakti and motherhood.
While her Panchali (The Fire Princess) dealt with the most complex, brave and intelligent character of Mahabharata,Yugavtaar (Lord Vishnu) is dedicated to Lord Vishnu’s life and his avatars. After Devi Puran,Janaky is busy working on her forthcoming book on Lord Arjuna. “I derive my inspiration from gods and goddesses. At Mansa Devi,I felt that the goddess herself was urging me to write something about her. And when I got the silver coin from the pandit,I took it as a blessing,” Janaky wants to prove that the women as Shakti are much more capable of doing what others think and their work can be more productive. True.
