When it comes to the big screen,it certainly is India shining. Check this: While ‘Kutty Srank’ and ‘Abohomaan’ will be screened at the Pusan International Film Festival,‘Well Done Abba’ and ‘Janala’ will be screened at the London Film Festival. Both these prestigious international film festivals of Asia and Europe will experience a flavour of Indian cinema this October through Big Pictures’ varied slate of films.

The 14th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) to be held from October 8 to 16 in Korea will screen Malayalam film Kutty Srank (Sailor of Hearts) and Bengali film Abohomaan (The Eternal) in ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ section. The 53rd London Film Festival to be held from October 14 – 29 will screen Hindi film Well Done Abba on 18 October and Bengali film Janala (The Window) on 27 October in ‘World Cinema Category’. Director Shyam Benegal,who is expected to attend the screening of ‘Well Done Abba’ at the London Film Festival,has already received a standing ovation for the same at the Montreal World Film Festival. The same effect goes for Kutty Srank and Abohomaan.

As for th films,Shaji Karun’s Kutty Srank starring Mamooty,Kamilini Mukherjee,Padmapriya and Meenakumari brings out three distinct personalities of a dead boat-man from the perspective of three women each of whom claims to be his wife. Rituparno Ghosh’s Abohomaan starring Dipankar De,Mamata Shankar,Ananya Chatterjee,Jishu Sengupta and Ria Sen brings to the screen a sensational relationship between a film-director,a young actress and a wife who swears to ruin her husband’s life and career and a son who gets caught in the cross-fire in this extravagant drama. Shyam Benegal’s film Well Done Abba starring Boman Irani,Minissha Lamba and Samir Dattani is in the comic and ironic vein. It has screenplay by Ashok Mishra. Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Janala starring Tapas Paul,Swastika Mukherjee and Indraneil Sengupta is the journey of a solitary man against the wrath of circumstances when he decides to pursue his little impulsive dream.
