Saupin’s Gold Cup from August 21
Saupins School,Sector 32,Chandigarh will be organising an Inter-school Cricket Tournament for Under-14 that commence from August 21 at Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,Chandigarh. The schools which are keen to take part in the tournament can contact coach Deepak Lohotiya on 7837631500. Players born on or after 01.01.1997 are eligible to participate in the tournament. Eight teams will compete against each other in the tournament.
Hockey tourney from August 22
The ninth edition of the SN Vohra Memorial Sub-Junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament to be organised by Rock Rovers Hockey Club,will be held from August 22 to August 29. Teams from Punjab,Haryana,Delhi,Rajasthan,Karnataka and Chandigarh will take part in the event.
Chess tourney from tomorrow
The Chandigarh Chess Association will organise the 21st Chandigarh Chess Championship (seniors) from Augsut 19 to 22 at St Xaviers School,Sector 44. The top four players will be selected to represent Chandigarh in the forthcoming National Challenger Chess Championship to be held in Haryana in September. The last date for the submission of entries is August 18.

The eighth edition of the Administrator’s Challenge Cup All-India Football Tournament for boys under-17 will begin from September 1 to 9. Netball meet from today
Netball Association of Chandigarh will organise the Chandigarh State Netball Championship for Boys and Girls in the age groups of Under-17 and Under-14 at Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 20 on August 18 and 19. All the players have to report for the matches at 8.30 am in the school premises. Players born on or after 01.01.1993 for Under-17 and 01.01.1996 for Under 14,are eligible to participate in this championship. Cricket Club Sector 22,will take on I.S.Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School,Sector 21,Chandigarh in the opening match of the Sub-Junior State WomensCricket Championship (Under-16) for Kailash Bahl Trophy to be played at I.S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School,Sector 21 in Chandigarh.
Wrestling coaching centre for girls
As wrestling is becoming popular among local girls also,the ChandigarhWrestling Association has decided to start training centre for female wrestlers at the Wrestling Coaching Centre in Sector 30. Giving this information,Darshan Lal,general secretary of the association said that selection trials to choose the trainees will be held on Wednesday from 6 am.With a view to encouraging the girls wrestlers,the CWA will provide free kits,intensive training and competition exposure. Only school and college girls would be entitled to appear in the trials for the WCC-30.
Haryana girls athletics team announced
The Haryana State Amateur Athletic Association has announced its girls squad for the 22nd North Zone Junior Athletics Championship to be held at the Gandhi Ground in Amritsar from August 21 to 23. Haryana will take part in the under-20,18,16 and 14 years categories,according to HSAAA general secretary H S Bhadu. The boys team was announced earlier.Bhadu informed that a 132-member Haryana team will leave for Amritsar on August 19 at 7 pm from Hisar.
