GNDU non-teaching depts closed on December 10
Amritsar: All non-teaching departments and the administrative block of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) will remain closed on December 10 in lieu of November 24,the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur,when the university celebrated its 41st foundation day.

Journalist bereaved
Shimla: Asha Puri,mother of senior journalist Vijay Puri who works with Hindi daily Aapka Faisla,passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged long illness. She was 82. She is survived by three sons. Asha was admitted to PGI,Chandigarh. The cremation will take place there on Thursday,said family members.

23 Chail military school cadets clear NDA written examination
Shimla: Twenty three cadets of Rashtriya Military School Chail,which comes directly under the Ministry of Defence,have qualified in the National Defence Academy written examination. Principal Lt Col V K Bhat said the cadets had been able to make it to the NDA after having meticulously followed a time-table and preparing for the examination in a systematic manner. This is one of the highest number of students from the school to have cleared the written examination for any particular batch. ENS
