The strings and soothing sound of Satvik Veena by maestro Salil Bhatt created magical music waves, leaving the audience mesmerised at the 163rd Monthly Baithak Programme organised by Pracheen Kala Kendra at the Dr. MS Randhawa Auditorium,Sector 16. Hailing from a Jaipur-based family of musicians,Salil Bhatt is the son of legendary slide player and India’s Grammy Award winner Padmashree Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. As the evening progressed,Salil reflected a dynamic style on the instrument, incorporating the authentic and systematic exposition of Hindustani ragas, and the embellishments of the World Music as well. Bhatt also presented his new discovery, raga Viswakauns,a dazzling display of permutation and combination of music notes. Salil has dedicated the melody to his guru-father Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on his 60th birthday. Viswakauns has notes of raga Jog and traces of the kauns ang in it. His taans and tihais were highly applauded by the audience. He also displayed an interesting sawaal-jawaab session with Prithviraj Mishra on tabla. Mishra is the disciple of late tabla maestro Pandit Kishan Maharaj.
