Hate Male

Imagine sitting in a room face-to-face with the person who really, really hates you.

Arjun “Ra.One” Rampal takes on a new role — anchoring a hate show on television

Imagine sitting in a room face-to-face with the person who really, really hates you. What would follow would be heated arguments and bitter confrontations. Replace yourself with a Bollywood actor, singer, director or a writer, add an extra pinch of drama and garnish with Arjun “Ra.One” Rampal. What you get is a new chat show with a twist,Love 2 Hate U on Star World, starting November 20.

A hater-hunter team auditions bloggers and tweeple (people using Twitter) who vent their spleen on celebrities. Shortlisted people are brought face-to-face with the celebrity they dislike.

Thereafter, the audience can sit back for some fireworks. “With the social media becoming popular, people have a bigger platform to form opinions.

“Criticism is good as long as it’s constructive. We are looking for ‘haters’ with credibility. Most of them are, however, just 140 characters deep,” says Rampal, who was in Delhi recently to promote the show.

Surprisingly, the first episode has Rampal, the anchor himself, confronting Farhan,a young stand-up comedian, who compares him to a piece of furniture and cracks jokes on his acting ability (or lack of it) in films such as Moksha,Pyaar Ishq aur Mohabbat and the recently released,Ra.One. Of course,by the end of the episode,Farhan sees a different side of Rampal.

The following episodes will entertain the viewers with directors Madhur Bhandarkar and Farah Khan and writer Chetan Bhagat arguing it out with their respective haters. Ask Rampal who would he like to see on the show, and pat comes a reply,“Lalit Modi or maybe some politician. That would be fun.”

Nervous about his TV debut as an anchor, the suave actor keeps asking for opinions, listens carefully, asks questions and then says,“This is scarier than releasing a film. I’m not a TV person, honestly, and never really thought about anchoring a show.

Love 2 Hate U is provocative and blends social media with the world of television.
