Cold weather: Haryana announces holidays for schools up to Class 5 till Jan 27

On Monday, the Chandigarh administration extended holidays for schools in the region by one more week for students up to Class 5.

Considering the severe cold and foggy conditions, the Haryana government on Tuesday announced vacation for students of classes 1 to 5 in government as well as private schools in the state up to January 27.

Officials told The Indian Express that the government has conveyed its directions to senior officers of the Haryana School Education Department. A formal order regarding the extension of winter vacation will be issued soon, they added.

On Monday, the Chandigarh administration also extended holidays for schools in the region by one more week for students up to Class 5. For higher classes, schools can opt to conduct classes, but only after taking appropriate precautions so that children do not suffer from exposure to cold weather. It added that the schools should not open before 9.30 am and must close before 4 pm.
