(File Photo)Unemployment is the biggest issue in Anandpur Sahib, according to cyber security expert Harwinder Karwal, who is running as an Independent candidate from this constituency in Punjab in Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Karwal is among the most highly educated candidates at Anandpur Sahib. His affidavit states that he holds an MSc in Chemistry, an MBA, an MSc in IT, a BEd, and two certificate courses in cyber security, infrastructure security, and attack methodology in IT and ITS cyber security from the US Department of Homeland Security.
Karwal stated that he is an educationist and independent education content creator. He has declared movable assets worth Rs Rs 5.01 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 10.43 lakh.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Karwal said his students convinced him to contest the elections. He added that he has been into education research for the past 30 years.
“Youngsters need jobs and not promises; the other issue is the bad road infrastructure,” Karwal said.
When asked how he would solve the unemployment problem, Karwal said he has a blueprint and will work on giving youngsters jobs. “I am also teaching technology, including artificial intelligence. I have planned and will provide jobs to youngsters,” Karwal claimed.
Karwal’s wife is also an educationist. The couple lives in their native Golian village in Hoshiarpur district. His son is studying engineering, while his daughter is in Class 7.
“I prefer to live in my village and serve my people; I am contesting the elections so that I can help youngsters to become competent in the field of new technological innovations and skills,” Karwal said.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)’s Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra is looking to reclaim the Anandpur Sahib seat from the Congress. Vijay Inder Singla has replaced sitting MP Manish Tewari as the Congress candidate as the latter has been fielded in Chandigarh this time. The other major candidate in the fray is Malwinder Singh Kang of the Aam Aadmi Party.
All 13 seats of Punjab will go to poll in the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 on June 1.
