That food is the hot new sensation on Indian television is now a well reported fact

That food is the hot new sensation on Indian television is now a well reported fact. Given the number of food channels and culinary programmes on air,it comes as little surprise that an increasing number of cookery enthusiasts in the city are beginning to step out of their comfort zones to try something new. Like Seerat Kaur,an interior designer who is also a Nigella Lawson fan. “It’s great to watch her cook but I haven’t always been able to replicate her recipes,” admits Kaur, who had to face a tough time sourcing global ingredients and cookware in the city.

But all that is set to change and we realised that soon after we walked into the recently opened Chef’s Gateway store in Elante mall. Cutesy muffin packs to professional icing guns, international cuisine ingredients to tools of the trade, including American cookware brands, the spacious store houses a good mix. “There’s a growing demand for not just ingredients, but bakeware and cookware as well. We have for the first time brought to India brands such as Lodge,Wilton,Nordic Ware and Norpro,” says owner Swaran Singh Oberoi.

To encourage amateur chefs, the store hosted a garden party recently that saw a special presentation of hors d ’oeuvres. With its extensive offer of ingredients and tools, the store caters to everyone — be it a MasterChef Australia fan looking to try his hands at a creme brulee,or a professional on the hunt for the perfect baking tray.
