While the film Simran deals with the issue of female foeticide,Tere Ishq Nachaya is a love triangle. Whats common between the two? Both have female actors as central protagonists and are releasing within a span of a fortnight from each other.
Seventeen years back I was blessed with a daughter and instead of celebrating her birth my mother frowned with dismay. It should have been a boy,she said, and I was stunned. The incident has remained with me for years and through this film I want to tell people that the birth of a daughter is not a curse, but killing her even before she opens her eyes is a sin, said filmmaker Darshan Bagga,as he introduced the movie Simran at the Press Club in Sector 27. Accompanied by the cast of the film,he added,My daughter was lucky for me,and it was only after her birth that I managed to make a name in Punjabi cinema. We should let the girls live and face their own destiny. What is the guarantee that a boy will bring luck or look after you. The movie will release across Punjab,on December 3,and stars Simran Randhawa,Surjit Khan and Sheetal Bedi.
On the other hand, director Ravinder Ravis Tere Ishq Nachaya, which premiered on November 26,is a maiden venture of Pearls Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The love triangle has Chandigarh-based actress Mannat Singh in the lead, along with Daksh Ajit Singh,Kanwaljeet Singh and Amar Noorie. Mannat plays a young bubbly girl,Kamal, who finds love in the most unexpected place, said Ravi, whose film travels from Punjab to Bangkok and features a lot of dance numbers. There is a fusion of traditional and modern music. The cultural and traditional aspects of the society have been kept in mind, says Ravi, who roped in Hans Raj Hans and his son Navraj Hans to compose the music.
