If Indian music is breaching boundaries and going places,Midival Punditz is surely among the frontrunners leading the charge. Not content with churning out three acclaimed albums and playing to full houses around India and the world, the Delhi-based electronic outfit has secured a place on the official video game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup,with their song Atomizer from the album Hello Hello playing in the soundtrack. The duo—Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj—is the only Indian on the soundtrack and is keeping company with international music artistes like Basement Jaxxx,Sergio Mendes and Michael Franti & Spearhead.

“It’s a wonderful happy,dance-y number. It also has a distinctive Indian flavour. People playing the game will definitely love it,” says Raina. This is not the first time that the Punditz have licensed out their music to games. They’ve previously licensed out their tracks to games like Need for Speed—Cabon,Project Gotham Racing 3 and Ashes Cricket 2009,and have also contributed numbers to the soundtracks of television shows Six Feet Under and Prison Break. Raina attributes it to their music label Six Degrees. “They have been actively promoting our interests and making such projects possible,” he says.

The duo’s last big project was composing the background music for the Farhan Akhtar-thriller Karthik Calling Karthik, along with percussionist Karsh Kale. They don’t have any more film projects in hand at the moment, but Raina says,“We’re very keen on exploring more film projects. We are also working on our next album.”
