To commemorate the 85th Martyrdom Day of Lala Lajpat Rai,an exhibition comprising memorabilia,books and other material pertaining to his life was inaugurated by Onkar Chand,Chairman,Servants of the People Society. On the occasion,Chand spoke about the sacrifices made by Lalaji and other freedom fighters. “Lalaji established Dwarka Dass Library in Lahore in 1921 by donating all his books. Over the years,it has acquired the stature of a national heritage library,” he said. On display are books on freedom struggle,reports on the Ghadar Movement,court proceedings pertaining to Bhagat Singh,and several issues of The People — a newspaper started by Rai. Besides,clothes worn by him when he was charged with lathis while leading a protest rally against Simon Commission are also on display. The exhibition is on till November 27.
