Appreciating Punjab Government’s decision to reduce the minimum required area for a plotted housing colony,Mariners Buildcon India Ltd (MBIL),a Delhi-based real estate company working for the Indian mariners,NRIs and high-end professionals,has announced its next housing project in the region. This new project ‘Mohali Oceanic’ will offer around 200 independent expandable villas on a plot area of 300 square yards and will start in November 2009. H S Anand,the Managing Director,says,“Now that the government has reduced the minimum required area for a plotted housing colony from the existing 100 acres to a more reasonable 25 acres,the project will be more manageable.”

Nutrition nuances
HEALTHY eating habits was the hot topic of the day,as Fortis Hospital Mohali celebrated Nutrition Week with healthy food stalls,interactive sessions on healthy lifestyles and a cooking demonstration. Sonia Gandhi, Senior Dietician Clinical Nutrition Department talked about how callous eating habits lead to over,as well as under nutrition,both of which are harmful. “Most of us ignore the basics. One should be a sensible eater and cultivate similar habits in children,” Sonia stressed on eating seasonal fruits and vegetables. Manju Mathur,Chief Dietician,GMCH-32 spoke about the advantages of fruits and vegetables,“fruits are perfect antioxidants which help fight and prevent diseases. Moreover,with stress-related diseases on the rise,it’s essential to maintain a healthy body.” Dr KP Singh,Consultant,Endocrinology stressed on the prevention of diabetes through diet patterns,while Monica Sood gave a cooking demonstration on Healthy and Nutritional Foods. “Food should first be eaten by the eyes and then the mouth,” as she whipped up low-calorie and healthy sandwiches and pizzas.

Health Wise
ON the occasion of LIC’s 53rd anniversary and insurance week celebrations LIC of India,Chandigarh Division,organized a free heath check-up camp at Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 22,for students upto Class IV. Here,while Raghupal Singh,Senior Divisional Manager,inaugurated the camp,Harish Kumari,Manager (New Business) along with the team from Divisional Office organized the camp,S Khurana,Director and Amita Khurana,Principal of the school,graced the occasion. With about 600 students of the school examined by a team of doctors from Chandigarh and Mohali including Dr JS Sandhu,Dr Rozy and Dr Manish Kumar,the height and weight of the students was also examined and advise on proper diet was given accordingly.
