Firm delays uniforms again, puts blame on Raksha Bandhan

The Delhi-based company,Alok, which was supposed to deliver the last set of government school uniforms for students of Classes I to VIII,has failed to supply the uniforms by the August 19 deadline it set for itself

The Delhi-based company,Alok, which was supposed to deliver the last set of government school uniforms for students of Classes I to VIII,has failed to supply the uniforms by the August 19 deadline it set for itself.

The company had supplied the first set of uniforms to most of the schools. Of 72,000 uniforms, they delivered 65,000 saying the remaining 7,000 would be sent by August 19 and not later than that.

The Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 45 found nine defaults in the uniforms after samples were sent for lab testing, due to which, the school has already cancelled the tender to the company.

Most city-based schools are still waiting for the last set of uniforms so they can send the whole lot for lab testing.

Vinod Sharma, principal of the government school in Sector 34,said,“We are waiting for the remaining uniforms so that we can send it for lab testing to Ludhiana, which would take five to six days.”

The Delhi representative head of the company,YP Joshi said,“We said by August 19 uniforms will be dispatched from Delhi, and because of Raksha-bandhan the supply got delayed. Otherwise, the uniforms are ready. We will be able to confirm the status on August 21. The uniforms will be delivered soon.”
